Fatima Kaleem Khan
Fatima Kaleem Khan’s Spilt Milk explores how discipline moves through the home, the school, and the television soap opera, shaping expectations imposed on women and girls. In the classroom, school desks and cereal boxes are transformed with embroidery, drawing, lace, and synthetic hair. The artist deliberately chose brands such as Fauji Corn Flakes, which are produced by a subsidiary of the same military-industrial network that also funds state television and shapes school curricula. The breakfast table becomes a place where the everyday and the ideological meet.
