After studying French literature and fashion design in Korea, followed by visual arts in France, Joon Yoo has since been developing an artistic practice spanning video, installation, and performance, informed by literature and sound. In her work, she experiments with time as a raw material, investigating its characteristics beyond the measurable. Stretched, bended, warped and rendered flexible - she emancipates it from its conventional linearity and systematic nature. Centered specifically on “deep time,” her work explores traces of memory and matter, while contemplating a cosmic temporality that resists the acceleration of contemporary society.
