Lala Rukh was a renowned artist, educator, and activist from Lahore, Pakistan. A pioneering figure in South Asian Minimalism, her work embraced a minimalist, meditative aesthetic and calligraphic forms. In 1981, she co-founded the Women’s Action Forum (WAF), an influential platform for women’s rights and feminisms in the Global South. She taught at Punjab University in Lahore for three decades. Following her retirement from teaching, she devoted herself to her artistic practice in Lahore alongside her ongoing commitment to activism.
