Born in the Philippines and currently based in Brussels, Joshua Serafin is a multidisciplinary artist who combines dance, performance, visual arts, and choreography. Serafin’s practice engages questions of identity, transmigration, queer politics and representation, states of being, and ways of inhabiting the body. Their cosmology of works creates new forms of rituals and embodiment based on queer ecologies. Serafin's artistic practice constitutes an intense sociological exorcism of Filipino identity, interrogating its hybridity under Western ideologies while unpacking the historical violence embedded in the feudal structures of contemporary Philippine society.
