Zahra Malkani is a multidisciplinary artist from Karachi, Pakistan. Collaboration, research, and pedagogy are central to her practice. Working across multiple media, she explores the politics of development and dispossession through the lens of dissident ecological knowledge and traditions of environmental resistance. Together with Shahana Rajani, she co-founded Karachi LaJamia, a platform outside institutional frameworks for experimental ecopedagogies. Spanning collaborative research projects, essays, site-specific courses and curricula, and multimedia installations, Karachi LaJamia resists dominant languages of power by using contemporary art as an educational methodology to reimagine urban ecologies in Karachi.
