Nkisi is a Congolese-born multidisciplinary artist, composer and performer based in London. Working across sound, installation, sculpture and performance, her practice investigates anomalous sonic phenomena and the uncontainable, illegible dimensions of sound, including noise. Through the concept of an “anomaly index,” she explores rhythm, resonance, ritual and disruptive sonic events as thresholds through which hidden cosmologies and knowledge systems emerge. Engaging sonic ecologies and non-human dynamics, her work treats sound as a living medium of transmission between visible and invisible worlds.
